Guide
PaneLive with Streamlabs Desktop
Set up PaneLive as a control surface for Streamlabs Desktop, connected directly or through PaneLive Companion. For common controls, tally, voice and countdowns, see the quick start guide.
With Streamlabs Desktop, PaneLive focuses on control: scenes, sources, audio faders and outputs. Where video would appear, you’ll see a placeholder image. That’s expected, and your connection is working fine.
Connect through PaneLive Companion (recommended for PaneLive)
Start Streamlabs Desktop and its PaneLive Companion provider. In PaneLive, add Streamlabs Desktop → PaneLive Companion, scan the fresh pairing QR code, and check the connection and your role. Choose Viewer to monitor, or Operator (once approved) to take control.
Setting up Companion for the first time? Use the Companion Installation manual’s Windows or macOS instructions, then continue with provider setup and pairing.
This route gives each device its own paired access, so your phone never needs the Streamlabs connection token itself.
Connect directly to Streamlabs Desktop
- 01
Reveal the connection details
In Streamlabs Desktop, open the mobile or third-party connection settings and reveal the remote connection details.
- 02
Add a direct profile
In PaneLive, add a Streamlabs Desktop direct profile with the computer’s address, the port and the token.
- 03
Save and connect
Close the desktop settings if the remote connection is waiting for that. Then save, connect and wait for your scenes, audio inputs and output status to appear.
- 04
Keep the token current
If you regenerate the token, update your saved profile. Keep the token and its QR code out of screenshots.
Select scenes and use Studio Mode
With Studio Mode off, picking a scene under Program takes it live. With Studio Mode on, the scenes you pick go to Preview: use the Studio transition to take one live, then check that Program shows the new scene.
Turn on Studio Mode on the computer, or with a general-action hotkey you’ve assigned. Transition effects and durations are set in Streamlabs Desktop.
Work with Horizontal and Vertical canvases (PaneLive Pro)
Turn on and set up Dual Output on the computer. PaneLive then shows the Horizontal and Vertical canvases side by side in the same production view.
Tap a canvas or its selector before you edit sources. The active canvas decides which source placements and colors you see. A source placed in both canvases has its own visibility in each, so check you’re on the right canvas before toggling it.
Sound and outputs
Use faders and mute on the audio inputs of the current scene. Faders go up to 0 dB and follow the Streamlabs fader curve.
Start recording or streaming with the output controls, then check the status. Direct connections switch outputs on and off with a toggle; PaneLive Companion uses separate start and stop actions.
Organize collections and shortcuts
Stop recording and streaming first. Then pick a scene collection from the top bar and wait for it to finish loading.
In Streamlabs, assign hotkeys to the general actions you want: start or stop recording and streaming, turn Studio Mode on or off, and the Studio transition. Then open the PaneLive deck to use them. PaneLive checks each hotkey’s current assignment before triggering it.

Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Streamlabs
If the shortcut deck is empty, check that your hotkeys use the general actions listed above and are actually assigned. If canvas controls are missing, check Dual Output and the display state, and let loading finish. When changing collections, stop outputs first and wait for loading to confirm instead of tapping again.
If Program is missing in Studio Mode, check the state on the computer and reconnect if needed. For voice, tally and outputs, see the quick start guide.
